SNC1D Wikispaces Ecosystems Assignment
In groups of up to three, you will be selecting an ecosystem, whether it is an aquatic or terrestrial ecosystem (Chapter 2.8 and 2.9) and creating a web page (through wikispaces) about what you find out about your ecosystem. You are not limited to the ecosystems described in the text, you are permitted use any ecosystem in the world or an ecosystem that is found exclusively in any area. Please try to select an ecosystem that another group/person is not doing, so we are able to collect a wealth of information.
You will want to include a map that shows the boundaries of your ecosystem or where it is found and upload images about the animals and plants that live in the ecosystem. Make sure you provide a few examples of abiotic and biotic factors (with images).
There needs to be a section that shows the various habitats and niches of the species that are found in your ecosystem and a short description about how they work together to create a balance.
Include animals and plants that would be your producers and consumers and if possible place them into a food pyramid or food chain (what eats what)
Either discuss how humans have already impacted the ecosystem or if they have yet too, how humans may affect the ecosystem. Try to include images of what is already occurring or images of an ecosystem is already affected.
As a bonus try to include a short video clip of any part of your ecosystem. (I will determine if this is possible)
Always be aware of plagiarism and make sure you give credit where credit is due. If you are using images that are not your own, make sure you include the source of the image underneath the picture. As with all projects, make sure you include a complete list of sources (just the URL is fine). If I do not see where you obtained your images/text, I may have to temporarily remove it until you do so (or you will lose marks if it is for submission).
IMPORTANT
- Once you have created your groups or working individually. You MUST create a page for yourself to work on, make sure you label it appropriately. If you do not have one, I will make one for you.
